From Auckland drive north on State Highway 1 in your Budget Motorhome. Turn onto State Highway 12 at Brynderwyn. Visit the Kauri Museum at Matakohe and discover the story of one of New Zealand's giant native trees - the kauri - its timber and its gum. Take a tour with Kauri Country - a unique eco adventure that brings to life the early history of the area OR continue on to Dargaville to visit the Maritime Museum, which tells the tale of the many shipwrecks from New Zealand's early history. If time permits, take a horse trek along part of the 100 km/62 mile Ripiro Beach. Overnight in the Dargaville district.
